Kristen Hruschak, Registered Dietitian, Geriatric Nutrition, Meal Planning

Hello!

I'm a seasoned Registered Dietitian with a passion for helping individuals improve their health through practical, evidence-based nutrition. I'm licensed with the College of Dietitians of Alberta.

At Aging Well Nutrition Services, I provide comprehensive and personalized nutrition counselling through in-home, in-office, and virtual appointments. Whether you're looking to manage a health condition, improve your relationship with food, navigate digestive concerns, or simply improve your eating habits, I work alongside you to create realistic, sustainable strategies that fit your lifestyle. My mission is simple yet profound: to help you feel your best with nutrition that supports your health, well-being, and quality of life.

I take a weight-neutral, body-positive approach to nutrition, recognizing that health is about more than a number on the scale. I create a supportive, judgment-free environment where clients can focus on building sustainable habits, improving their relationship with food, and achieving their personal health goals. I provide nutrition counselling for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Healthy eating

  • IBS and digestive health

  • Diabetes and prediabetes

  • Heart health, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol

  • Healthy aging and nutrition for older adults

  • Malnutrition and unintentional weight loss

  • Meal planning

  • Building a positive relationship with food

I also have particular expertise supporting caregivers and older adults, helping you navigate the nutrition side of caregiving, from managing a loved one's health condition to easing the mental load of what to cook and how, so you can care for them without losing sight of your own health.

Whether you're in your 20s, 30s, or 90s, my goal is to provide individualized nutrition advice that is practical, compassionate, and grounded in the latest evidence. I believe nutrition should enhance your life, not complicate it, and I'm committed to helping you build confidence in your food choices for years to come.

I look forward to the privilege of supporting you on your path to a healthier, happier life!

Why I Choose to Work with Caregivers to Older Adults

During university, Kristen watched her grandfather decline in hospital care. Malnourished, struggling to swallow, and without a dietitian ever following up, until he passed away alone after visiting hours ended. That loss became the driving force behind her work with older adults and their caregivers, and eight years into her long-term care career, it's what pushed her to leave and start Aging Well Nutrition Services.

Her mission: to be a voice for older adults, support the people caring for them, and make sure no one falls through the cracks the way her grandfather did.
