What it’s actually like to work with a dietitian.
Working with a Registered Dietitian is a collaborative process. Every appointment is personalized, evidence-based, and focused on helping you make meaningful, sustainable changes that fit your life. Here's what you can expect from our work together.
-
Before We Meet
Your first step is reaching out.
Whether you contact me by phone, email, or through my website, we'll start with a conversation about what you're hoping to achieve.
I'll answer any questions you have, discuss whether my services are a good fit for your needs, and explain appointment options and fees.
Once you're ready to move forward, you'll receive intake forms and any information needed before your first appointment.
-
Understanding the whole picture.
Our first appointment is about getting to know you, not just your diet.
We'll discuss things such as:
Your health history
Current medications and supplements
Eating habits and routines
Lifestyle, work, family, and daily schedule
Medical conditions and lab results (when applicable)
Food preferences, cultural considerations, and budget
Previous experiences with nutrition advice
Your goals and what's most important to you
Rather than focusing only on food, we'll explore how nutrition fits into your life.
-
Nutrition counselling isn't about being told what to eat.
I use motivational interviewing techniques to help you explore your own goals, values, and motivations for change. This means you'll never be judged or pressured into making changes you're not ready for.
Instead, you can expect:
Open, supportive conversations
Active listening
Shared decision-making
Practical problem-solving
Respect for your experiences and priorities
Goals that feel realistic and achievable
You're the expert on your own life. My role is to provide evidence-based guidance while helping you find solutions that work for you.
-
Follow-up visits build on the work we've already started.
Together we'll:
Review your progress
Celebrate successes
Address any barriers you've encountered
Answer new questions
Adjust your nutrition plan as your needs change
Set new goals when you're ready
Many people find that ongoing support helps them make lasting, sustainable changes rather than relying on short-term diets or quick fixes.
-
Nutrition is personal.
There is no one-size-fits-all eating plan, and lasting change rarely happens overnight.
My goal is to help you build sustainable habits that support your health, fit your lifestyle, and feel realistic for the long term. Every recommendation is tailored to your unique needs, preferences, and goals.
